Baldeep Pabla, MD: Hello, my name is Baldeep Pabla. I'm an assistant professor at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Clinic, and I'm giving you a little bit of an overview of my talk as a part of the lecture on primary care in inflammatory bowel disease.

So specifically what I'll be going through is the explosion in therapies that we have for the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease and how to consider the safety and comparative efficacy of some of these medications with a focus on the anti-integrin therapies, evaluating the relative safety of these medications as compared to some of the other biologic classes, the comparative efficacy, and how we might position these agents both for the treatment of moderate to severe ulcerative colitis, as well as for the treatment of moderate to severe Crohn's. I'll finish with a review of the importance of a multidisciplinary team in the care of a patient with inflammatory bowel disease, and we'll have perspectives from a primary care physician, one of my colleagues, and a patient advocate to help make this presentation comprehensive and show all of the aspects of treatment that come into the care for a patient with inflammatory bowel disease.
