The NLA’s Recommendations for Low-Carb and Very-Low-Carb Diets

Carol Kirkpatrick, PhD, RDN, MPH, CLS, FNLA, reviews the clinical recommendations for low-carbohydrate and very-low-carbohydrate (including ketogenic) diets for the management of body weight and other cardiometabolic risk factors, which were recently issued by the National Lipid Association Nutrition and Lifestyle Task Force. Dr Kirkpatrick was lead author of the new recommendations.
