A Father Administers THC to His Child With Cancer Without Hospital Clearance

Ann W. Latner, JD
  • A New York court recently affirmed a family court decision, finding that a father had neglected his child by twice administering tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) oil to her while she was in the hospital undergoing treatment for her aggressive cancer.

The father believed that the THC oil would “cure” his child’s cancer. His source of information for this belief was the Internet. According to the child’s mother, the father described oncology as “a money-making industry” and he believed that oncologists had no interest in making patients well.

Did the father’s actions put his daughter in imminent danger?
